A variety of attractions and areas of interests can be found throughout LoDo, such as the Wynkoop Brewing Company, a brewpub that was founded by the current Governor of Colorado, John Hickenlooper, in 1988 and his partners Jerry Williams, Russell Schehrer, and Mark Schiffler. More than just a brewpub, Wynkoop includes a billiards hall on the top floor and an improvisational comedy club called Impulse Theatre on the basement level.
Two sports arenas are also located in LoDo: Coors Field and Pepsi Center. Coors Field is the home field for the MLB's Colorado Rockies while the Pepsi Center, also called "The Can", is the home of the NBA's Denver Nuggets, NHL's Colorado Avalanche, and the National Lacrosse League's Colorado Mammoth. For family fun and amusement, residents can head over to Elitch Gardens Theme Park for thrilling rides for kids of all ages. Elitch's, as it is locally known, is usually open from late April to late October. Next to Elitch's is Island Kingdom Water Park and is also open seasonally, usually from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
